Tempe Arizona is centrally located in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Tempe is bordered by the cities of Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler and Guadalupe. Tempe is the most densely populated city in the Phoenix Metro Area. Currently the population of Tempe is near 175 thousand people.

Tempe received its name when early settlers thought Hayden Butte also known as “A” mountain looked like the vale of Tempe in Greece.
Tempe while being relatively small geographically speaking, has quite a few major corporations. Tempe is the headquarters to US Airways, Chase Bank, Motorola, and the Salt River Project among others. Tempe is also known to be the origin of the ColdStone ice cream company. Tempe is also home to one of the biggest shopping malls in Arizona.
Tempe is also home to Arizona State University and the Sun Devils. The Tempe campus is located downtown and is roughly 642 acres in size. ASU as of 2011 has the second most students of any university in the United States. Tempe is the largest of the campuses with over 58,000 students. This gives Tempe a very diverse population.
Tempe Town Lake is adjacent to Tempe’s Mill Avenue, Arizona State University and the 2,000 acre Papago Park. Tempe Town Lake is said to be a vision of what the future of the Phoenix Metro Area will look like. Tempe Town Lake is the top Arizona attraction and has millions of visitors each year.
Families can enjoy recreational activities and cultural events at Tempe Town Lake. Newly constructed office buildings and high rise housing give Tempe Town lake an urban feel where people can work, live and play all near their home.
